Bringing Kashmiri Music to the Stage

At Funkar International, we believe tradition should be lived, not just remembered. Tradition in Practice is our ongoing effort to bring Kashmiri music out of archives and into communities through concerts, live performances, and cultural events.

From sponsoring the first-ever Kashmiri musical concert in the United States featuring Irfan Bilal Mehmeet, to organizing intimate gatherings and stage productions, we’re creating spaces where the sound of Kashmir can be experienced, shared, and celebrated in real time.

These events connect generations — elders who recognize the melodies of their youth, and young people who are discovering their cultural roots for the first time. Every performance is a chance to honor the artists, instruments, and stories that carry our heritage forward.
